Position Overview
System One is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Technician to support water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pipelines and utility systems. This role works closely with engineering and design teams to develop and modify technical deliverables, with a strong focus on drainage, grading, and utility design using Autodesk Civil 3D and related tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and Bentley MicroStation
- Create and modify plan & profile drawings, alignments, pipe networks, and grading surfaces
- Interpret engineering inputs and prepare technical deliverables
- Perform design calculations, material takeoffs, and cost estimates
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and documentation procedures
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project development
- Review drawings and deliverables for accuracy and quality
- Support field activities when required
- Provide guidance to junior team members
- Contribute to process improvements and quality initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of civil drafting/design experience
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, including:
- Pipe and pressure networks
- Grading surfaces
- Plan & profile development
- Strong understanding of:
- Alignments
- Pipe networks
- Site grading
- Engineering drawings
Technical Skills
- Autodesk Civil 3D (Advanced – Required)
- Autodesk AutoCAD
- Bluebeam
- Experience with CAD systems and document control tools
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical data
- Knowledge of engineering standards and design practices
- Basic understanding of construction methods and principles
Education
- Diploma or technical certificate preferred
- Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or related field preferred
